Many people are confused on how to distinguish street food, or dine-in food because in some countries street food stands, carts, and vendors are rarely seen, or doesn't even exist.
Asia is the continent with the most street food cultures and people usually have no trouble of understanding the means of street food.
Aling Nena, as shown in the picture above is a sidewalk vendor selling water, candies and finger food like pop corn for more than ten years in Quiapo.
She has five children all go to school and her husband is an ordinary carpenter whose income is unstable.
According to her, she starts displaying at 5:00 in the morning and goes home at 7:00 in the evening every day.
Her husband extends help to her if he doesn’t have work so she can take a rest.
Every weekend her children take her place so she finds other job like home service to earn extra income.
Sometimes, she feels like giving up but since she has a family who depends on her, she goes on with her every day battle.
She shares that there are times where she stays under the heat of the sun and worst, even gets wet by the rain just to earn money; yet she stands still for a very good reason...her family.
Regardless of her stature in life, she says that she is still very lucky as a person considering all the blessings that she has in life.
She is grateful for having family members like she has now who are very cooperative and helpful and who also view life positively the way she does.
She further states that life for her is a challenge that everyone needs to take into consideration; the more the downs the better person one can become.
“It is a matter of how we live our lives, not how much or many possessions we have,” says Aling Nena.
